Google promised big things in their tenth anniversary update of Chrome, but for many camsite users the biggest question will be how to fix Flash in Google Chrome 69 (to use its official and somewhat ironic version number...).
The change to Flash permissions in Chrome 69 didn't make Google's blog post announcing the update, which also sees some visual changes to tabs and the general interface of the browser.
But it quickly becomes apparent when you try to use certain Flash-based webcam sites. While Flash has not been disabled completely - that's due to happen next year - Chrome no longer 'remembers' if you have allowed a site to use Flash.
That means every time you close the browser, it resets that permission, and the next time you want to log on to a Flash-based camsite (or any other website that uses Flash) you will be prompted to enable that permission all over again.
We can only hope that any remaining Flash-based webcam sites update their back-end (LOL) before Chrome completely cuts support in 2019, but until then, this workaround seems to be how to fix Flash in Google Chrome 2018 for now...
Google Chrome Flags
**Change Google Chrome Flash settings at your own risk - we're not responsible for any changes you make! If anything stops working, just change it back.**
The setting you need can be found under Google Chrome Flags, a list of experimental features that includes Google Chrome Flash 'ephemeral' mode.
'Ephemeral' means temporary, so this option basically translates as meaning 'temporary Flash permission' - which you probably want to make permanent if you use a Flash-based camsite on a daily basis.
You can find it by going to chrome://flags/#enable-ephemeral-flash-permission in a Google Chrome tab, and you should see it set to 'Default'.

Ephemeral Flash Permissions in Google Chrome Flags/Experiments |
At your own risk: Change this to 'Disabled' to switch off Flash approval in Google Chrome every time you relaunch the browser.
This should ensure that (for now at least) Chrome 'remembers' your Flash setting for each website the next time you restart the browser.
For extra security, you might want to add your webcam site to the list of Allowed Flash websites in your Google Chrome.
To do this, go to chrome://settings/content/flash and click the Add button next to 'Allow' and just type or paste in the relevant webcam site's URL.
(If you haven't switched off Ephemeral mode as described above, you won't have the option to add any sites to your Allow list.)
You shouldn't need to add your camsite to your Allow list - once you've given Flash permission to run once, it should remember that setting anyway if you've turned Ephemeral mode off - but it's an extra thing you can do just to make sure, if you want.
As always, changing any browser settings is at your own risk and we can't offer direct support for any of this - and there's no telling how soon another Google Chrome update might stop this option from working too.
But for now if you're having problems logging on or keep getting prompted to authorise, approve or allow Flash permissions every time you restart Chrome, this workaround could be one way to fix that.
